Group Tours

Welcome to the Japanese American Museum of San Jose. To request a group tour please read the information below and fill out the JAMsj Group Tour Request Form. Due to limited docent availability, priority will be given to schools. Please note that submitting the JAMsj Group Tour Request Form does not confirm nor guarantee your tour.

Tour Packages

JAMsj offers a variety of standard tour packages to accommodate different group sizes and types. All tour packages can be adjusted to age level, both for duration and material content. Please let us know what materials are being used to prepare students for their visit and we will do our best to make connections between the material and our tour.

Small Group Museum Tour | 1 hour guided tour for 6-12 participants; Thursday - Sunday between 10:00AM - 12:00PM

Small Group Japantown Tour | 1 - 1.5 hour guided tour for 5-10 participants

Standard Group Museum Tour | 1.5 - 2 hour guided tour for 13-35 participants; Thursday - Sunday between 10:00AM - 12:00PM

Large Group Museum Tour with Presentation | 2 hour guided tour for 36-70 participants; Thursday - Sunday between 10:00AM - 12:00PM

Large Group Museum Tour with Self-Guided Japantown Tour | 2 hour guided tour for 36-70 participants; Thursday - Sunday between 10:00AM - 12:00PM

If you require a customized tour experience that falls outside of the listed tour packages above, please select “Custom Tour” on the JAMsj Group Tour Request Form.

Tour Admission Fees

Tour Admission: $10/Student/Educator/Senior, $15/Chaperone or Adult, $8 for current JAMsj Members

Virtual Tours: $200 (plus $60 Custom Tour Fee). Smaller groups may request an adjustment to align with in-person tour fees. To request a Virtual Tour, please fill out the JAMsj Group Tour Request Form and select “Custom Tour”.

Custom Tours: $60 setup fee in addition to our standard Tour Admission.

Title One schools may apply to waive tour fees by contacting tourcoordinator@jamsj.org.

Virtual and Self-Guided Tour options (FREE!)

JAMsj is collaborating with Hidden Histories to offer a self-guided, Augmented Reality powered walking tour in Japantown. Through the Hidden Histories of San Jose app, you will be able to access augmented reality art installations created by 9 different artists that share the multicultural history of San Jose Japantown, all through an app on your smartphone. Please visit the Hidden Histories website and videos page to meet the artists and learn more about this project and how to download the app!
