FAQs
1. Does JAMSJ help find jobs or provide other employment related services?
No. JAMSJ is principally a historical and cultural organization. It operates a museum and makes available educational materials and speakers to educators and students.
2. Does JAMSJ focus on Japan and Japanese culture?
Generally not, except where it informs the Japanese American experience. We have a particular interest in the history and culture of Japanese Americans in the Santa Clara Valley.
3. Can JAMSJ provide answers to specific questions about Japanese Americans?
JAMSJ has limited resources to act as an information and referral service. To the extent feasible, we will try to be helpful. The Japanese American National Library in San Francisco does operate an information and referral service at (415) 567-5006.
4. Does JAMsj ever provide sponsorship awards or grants?
JAMsj primarily works through collaborative partnerships in which organizations apply for grants together in support of shared community goals. In some cases, JAMsj may also provide sponsorships or grant support to mission-aligned initiatives. JAMsj Board policy states that indirect costs (overhead) are not allowable expenses unless explicitly negotiated and approved in writing.
