The Japanese American Museum of San Jose presents a

Grand Opening Celebration

  The opening ceremony on Saturday, October 16, at 1:00 pm, will feature entertainment by San Jose Taiko; a blessing by board member, Reverend Byron Ishiwata; and an opportunity for the public to new exhibits.

To  help us celebrate the unveiling of San Jose Japantown's newest visitor attraction, we our offering free admission days during the grand opening weekend. Because we anticipate large crowds on October 16, please register for a time slot by calling the JAMsj office (408) 294-3138 or by registering online.

  In addition to JAMsj’s rebirth, the day will honor Jimi Yamaichi’s culturally-important 88th birthday.  Mr. Yamaichi, who wears multiple JAMsj hats, is a cofounder, curator, historian, and construction manager. ,

 The Museum will also reopen with a special exhibition, "Camp Days: 1942-1945," from artist Chizuko Judy Sugita de Queiroz.  Click here for more information on the Camp Days exhibition and associated special events.
